Here's 2 articles from the New York Times that were run a week or so ago. The first one ran on 9/14 explaining that the NYT website was hacked and some rogue malware ads were placed on the server. The 2nd article (apparently unrelated) is from the very next day and it says that IT depts. prioritize the wrong threats and are focused on old problems. I just thought the contrast 1 day apart was very ironic.

Yes, do you think this lack of coordination indicates an internal political struggle that resulted in poor security and web site getting hacked?
ReplyDeleteNo, I read the articles, NYT hack was in their ad section, this focused on the wrong things was in their editorial section. It certainly appears that their IT security was focused on the wrong thing when they were hacked.
ReplyDeletelooks like these attacks are getting more inventive as time goes on i'm sure lots of people clicked on it thinking their computer was infected. I wonder what kind of checks the times have for people placing ads?
